Laboratory balances, in general, measure the mass of an object; but, in the laboratory, they are used to measure solids, liquids, and tissue, and they have a wide range of applications in clinical, research, and environmental settings. The triple beam balance, analytical balance (also known as precision balance or chemical balance), micro and semi-micro balances are all examples of laboratory balances. From a single grain of a chemical solid to the weight of a big beaker on a triple beam balance, these balances can measure a wide range of substances.
